London scriptwriter Martin passes on his knowledge to his students, but it's been a long time since one of his own projects saw the light of day. On the 25th birthday of his daughter Sarah, who stars as an actress in a new film, he is seduced by the enchanting Angelique. A day later, she is found dead in the Thames. Inspector Bullock comes knocking and starts asking questions.
