Schemes plot

Architect Paul Stewart meets Laura Steele after the death of his wife. He just got half a million dollars from insurance. He is completely wrapped up by Laura and falls head over heels in love with her. What he doesn't know is that grubby private detective Victor Kraft has sent her off to extort the insurance money. However, Laura really falls in love with architect Stewart. This was not one of Kraft's plans. Even less - or so it seems - that Evelyn Hayes is going to blackmail Paul's girlfriend, Laura. Then it turns out that Paul is not clean on the degree either.
