An action-packed project along the lines of The Raid, which ultimately turns out to work better than you might initially think. Director Bob Colaers embraces simplicity, and this greatly benefits a film like Paradijs, with plenty of bloody moments and a dynamic camera to capture it all appropriately. However, budgetary constraints are not entirely avoided, as a number of effects look very cheap and many fight scenes are not fully utilized. Saïd Boumazoughe in the lead role also appears somewhat unbalanced. His acting is good, but he is regularly overpowered too often, meaning he never looks dangerous enough. All in all, Paradijs is much better than similar homegrown productions, but it cannot even remotely join the ranks of the genre's greats.
