Le Pantin plot

Esteban leaves Algeria and travels through France to go to England. While crossing the Channel, his couriers throw him into the water. Miraculously, he escapes drowning and is picked up by Raphaëlle. The latter takes him into her house. However, she turns out to be a dominant woman, treats him like a sex object and deprives him of his masculinity. Further complications arise when Joseph, Raphaëlle's foster father, becomes jealous.
