L'Inconnu de Strasbourg plot

Madeleine (Ornella Muti) has a secret lover: Bastien (Johan Leysen). When her husband Jean-Paul (Charles Berling) catches them, their relationship is strained. Jean-Paul is killed in a car accident, and Bastien has an accident where he loses his memory. He still remembers one thing. On October 13, he has an appointment with Madeleine in a restaurant. He lives tensely towards the day of the appointment, would this give him his memory back?
