In the Company of Spies plot

In North Korea, an American CIA agent is arrested and tortured. Despite the torture, he still manages to keep his false identity as a Canadian engineer. CIA director in Washington, Tom Lenahan, is determined to go to great lengths to get the imprisoned agent back home safely. He's even thinking of calling in ex-cop Kevin Jefferson. Jefferson no longer works for the CIA and has his own Thai restaurant. He doesn't want to give up his new life again. Until he becomes personally involved in the case and still wants to cooperate. He wants to help free the agent on the condition that he is given carte blanche to run the operation in his own way.
