Valerio is convinced that his life is a disappointment because he has not been granted the success he deserves with his talent. He is a frustrated journalist, his job consists of compiling a column in which he answers letters from readers. His marriage was also a failure. His only son, Luca, sixteen, is quiet and introverted. Now Valerio lives with his mother, a hard, selfish and independent woman who only thinks of herself. His father, whom Luca morbidly admires, is convinced that using violence and having no scruples are the only ways to achieve success, money and respect.
