Millennium magazine is working on a report on Human Traffic, people smuggling. Just before publication, two investigative journalists from the magazine are murdered. This murder reunites Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander.

This film series seemed like a nice alternative to the books, and a bit unexpectedly I fell under the spell of Lisbeth Salander. Of course I also see the negative points that are brought up by many: the clichés, unbelievability, a somewhat overloaded plot and so on (see the above review by Montorsi, which I can't really say a word against). But the great asset of the series is simply the character of Salander. The name alone is well chosen; the decent Lisbeth marks the sweet little brown-eyed girl who has endured so much misery, while the mysterious Salander radiates strength, control and tenacity. In addition, I always like to see journalists' work in a series (see also Borgen, and the books by Liza Marklund).
Part 2, The woman who played with fire, I found perhaps even more exciting than part 1, there is also more happening. Whether that makes it better is another question. What bothered me the most is the piece on antipsychiatry, that you still dare to come up with it in 2009. Not only does what we see make no sense substantively, it is also stigmatizing with regard to psychiatry and the patients who undergo such highly effective treatments (always voluntarily!), and finally, it is also simply too much used as a theme.
Anyway, that doesn't affect the fact that I will also enjoy part 3 again; a nice evening on the couch cheering for Lisbeth, bring it on!

Usually never such a fan of sequels, it's always a matter of milking it out and a quality that is up to it. But Millennium appears to have an excellent sequel with part 2.
After the 'murder case' of part 1, the subject this time is human trafficking and the associated sex circuit. Murder and a new case presents itself to the two who, due to circumstances, conduct their investigation separately from each other. Although Salander once again shows her imaginative side, Blomqvist also does a good job with it. Especially how he supposedly lures Bjork into a trap and confronts him with his excesses is wonderful. Also here again three storylines with Blomqvist, Salander and Bublanski's police investigation team, as well as many characters with Niedermann, Poalo Roberto, Wu and many other passers-by. Once again just like in part 3 it is not at the expense of the story nor the clarity.
What is striking is the atmosphere that is considerably less dark than part 1 while the subject, forced prostitution, is not tender. More and more, the background of Salander is unraveled alongside, who encounters quite a few old opponents and people with whom she still has a bone to pick. The case also starts to smell more and more at a very high level. Finding the origin of most misery is accompanied by a well-constructed climax and of course room for part 3.
Part 2, like the first, stands out as an excellent thriller, albeit with a slightly different tone and a somewhat sought after story to end up in a nice trilogy. Nevertheless, this is also a fine film with powerhouse Rapace at full throttle. Nothing wrong with that. 4.5 is not quite right, however, a 4 is too low. A 4.3 would have been nice.

Just like part 1 a (initially) nice crimi with a few strong ideas (in part 1 I especially liked the twist with 2 serial killers, here I thought it was good to leave Mikael and Lisbeth together only at the end[ /spoiler]), but also a lot of nonsense; each problem is solved almost immediately in the next scene and it is very far fetched at times. What stands out here compared to the first part are two things:
1. The bleached giant can feel no pain, but if you hit him 100 times in the face, he will of course bleed and bruise...
2. Lisbeth is hit 3 times with a bullet at the end, is buried while it is still dark (timeline it is suggested that it is 1, 2 at most 3 a.m.), but she coolly comes to light back up (in any case, she must have been under about a meter of black ground for at least an hour, but most likely much longer)... and then she is also able to see her father with to attack an ax...
Too bad.
And that while I thought the finale started pretty strong with the confrontation with her father.
