Five Fingers plot

"What price would you pay for freedom?"

The story of the idealistic Dutch pianist Martijn (Ryan Philippe) who travels to Morocco at the request of his girlfriend to start a food program for children. Shortly after meeting his British guide Gavin (Colm Meany), the two are kidnapped by terrorists. They wake up blindfolded and strapped to chairs in an abandoned department store. The kidnappers, led by Ahmat, (Laurence Fishburne) are skeptical about Martijn's altruistic motives. What follows is an interrogation that intensifies with every rough question and every hard answer.

It didn't bother me at all that there was such a small cast and the story is mostly set in one place. The story is exciting and entertaining enough and it makes you think about what's going on. The ending totally surprised me. Nice and weird. I always caught myself trying to find out the truth and understand the movie, but unfortunately at the end of the movie I was still completely flabbergasted and I didn't have any answers yet. Reasonable psychological drama film.

Story is good, execution less so. Despite the short running time, I found many scenes on the long-winded side and the acting was rather static. 5/10*

Tried this movie once and it wasn't wrong. You have to get into it a bit, because it's not really a typical story. But in the end it did fascinate me, because you don't really know how the fork is in the stem. The ending was surprising.

The cast was not bad, just a shame that Ryan Phillippe sometimes switches between a kind of Dutch and English.

Despite the fact that the film is largely set in one location, it certainly didn't bother me.

I thought it was worth a look.
