Katharina Auerbach gives the young teacher Inka Frank a lift through the Black Forest, but disappears without a trace during a stop at a gas station. Strangely enough, the authorities do not think of a crime, but Katharina Auerbach ex-Kriminaltechniker Matthias Auerbach thinks otherwise and goes to investigate.
