Nice movie, somewhat imaginable. Have a good look. Very sad about the ending , with the affected blonde who suddenly showed up as a Texas Henkie and then walked away theatrically, which I found really off-putting . As a result, the film dropped a number in the rating for me. Unfortunately.

Style exercise.

It has to be, because for a film that really wants to surprise, it is all way too familiar territory. Everything goes according to a fixed pattern, you can see the twists coming from afar and with a title like Deception you start the film with a solid hint as to the course.

Langenegger, however, seems more interested in the elaboration of this well-known fact. With three actors who are on a roll, pretty atmospheric visuals and a smoothly running story, the film manages to generate enough atmosphere, so that the predictable plot is not even a problem for this film.

Pure genre work. It's all about elaboration, not originality or creativity. And as far as I'm concerned Langenegger succeeds wonderfully in this. Unfortunately, it was the same for Langenegger, although apparently a new film has been announced. As far as I'm concerned, he should definitely go again, because I found this clearly better than the average thriller.

3.5*

“Are you free tonight?”

Stylish film that is particularly impressive visually and in terms of atmosphere. And the acting of McGregor, Williams and especially Jackman keeps it interesting for a long time to watch. The first part of Deception is the strongest, with McGregor playing a lonely and unhappy man who manages to bring some tension into his life through a secret sex club. Of course this goes wrong, and the same goes for the film to some extent. It's getting more and more unbelievable, and even the twists are predictable (dthe main character won't die if there's still 20 minutes of play time left). Fortunately, it remains an atmospheric whole with strong acting.
