Clear Lake, WI plot

In 1993, some residents of the town of Clear Lake, Wisconsin, fell victim to a strange and terrible disease. An influential local clergyman blames the outbreak of this disease on the sins and heresy of some in town. When various people, especially children, fall ill and die, the pastors give fiery doomsdays and thereby cause a modern religious hysteria, much like the Inquisitions in the Middle Ages. When the residents of the city are pitted against each other, a group of five high school students is apparently brainwashed by the pastor. They help him kidnap and murder the accused sinners and heretics in a three-day trek through the city they call their "Holy War." By the time government health inspectors arrive to investigate the outbreak, 23 people are missing and most of the residents have fled...
