"Some scars never heal"
Many centuries after the Sixty-Minute War, the earth is barren and natural fuels are gone. The cities have become independent city-states and roam around in search of fuels that they take from other cities. The young Tom Natsworthy will cross paths with the mysterious woman Hester Shaw, with whom he will change the world forever.

“We have to stop London before it destroys us.”
Ambitious. Peter Jackson and director Christian Rivers have created a film (based on the Philip Reeve books) with Mortal Engines that looks stunning, with massively staged action sequences and an expertly crafted world by Rivers and his team. The only problem with the film is that it doesn't make much of an impression, and especially during the action-packed last part you sit without too much involvement to watch everything. That's not due to the acting, but more to the messy and overcrowded script, and the one-dimensional characters.

Rather a low score. While I really think it's a visual spectacle in its 'action film' genre. The story is simple and easy, but that is also part of this genre, right? We enjoyed the many spectacular action scenes.
I would have loved to see this movie in the cinema. Then everything came in even bigger and more violent. Definitely watch this movie. Really recommended.
