In the Shadows plot

In a dystopia dominated by primitive technology, of which we don't know exactly where and when, a group of people is controlled by a ubiquitous surveillance system. When one of them catches a mysterious illness, he tries to contact the Officials in fear of losing his job. Doubts arise about the structure in which he works. By questioning the system, he learns the depths of this structure, which is darker than he thought.
