This cold winter thriller from director Jesse Palangio isn't original, as many influences make it clear from the very first minutes where it all comes from. Nevertheless, Blood and Snow is interesting enough, even if the mystery unfolds differently than you might expect. An atmospheric location and solid acting ensure that the drawn-out 114-minute running time never feels too long, but that doesn't change the fact that Palangio takes significantly few risks. Originality or particularly suspenseful scenes are skillfully avoided, and the ending is predictable, but it's certainly not as bad as the average suggests.
