The Soul of Buddha plot
Bavahari, a mixed-race Indian girl, breaks her vow as a sacred dancer to worship Buddha. The high priest, secretly in love with the girl, is furious and vows revenge. Bavahari marries an English army officer and they move to Paris, where she becomes a sensation as a dancer. After she leaves her husband, he commits suicide at her feet. The high priest, discovering Bavahari is in Paris, announces his presence by drawing the "Sign of Death" on her dressing room door. He then disguises himself as a statue of Buddha. While Bavahari dances on stage, the high priest plots to murder her in front of the audience.
