Sterne über Madeira plot

After a life of hardship, novice Katharina takes on the identity of her deceased traveling companion Emma van Hohenburg. In the harbor she goes to her 'future' Johannes, a son from a wealthy family. Her dream of a free life quickly evaporates, because Johannes' father rules the family with a tight hand.
