Pour le Maillot Jaune plot

A cyclist, a former champion favorite for the Tour de France, loses precious minutes during a stage of the tour due to incorrect tactics and falls behind. He is discouraged by the exaggerated stories in the newspaper of a young reporter, who is still a rookie and doing the 'tour' for the first time. He wants to give up, but pulls himself together and runs minute after minute during the very difficult mountain stages and wins the yellow jersey. Although he is not a tour winner, he does conquer the heart of the young journalist.
