Poor Irish landowner Major Adair forces his eldest daughter Eileen to marry wealthy Lawrence Blake to pay off his debts, despite the fact that she is in love with another man. Adair's younger daughter Paddy, however, falls for Blake herself and plots to organize events for everyone's happiness.
