I did have fun with this movie watching Steve Zahn's cramped and wimpy but sweet attempts to win over Jennifer Aniston.

Jennifer Aniston as Sue Claussen is emotionally fucked up and therefore inaccessible to Mike. When Jango (Woody Harrelson) comes into play, things get a little more interesting. James Hiroyuki Liao as Al I liked but very standard.

I had to bite my bottom lip when the always nice Mike suddenly burst out of anger and sadness in his basement. Excellent acting work.

Not a movie you should expect much from. Nice for once.

Small 3*

A few weeks ago I had to go through Kissing a Fool (1998), also something like a romcom. This is one step worse...

Comedy - comic ?? The corners of the mouth have never, not a moment, not a single moment gone up half a millimeter..

Romance - romantic?? There are more sparks flying between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump than between these two main characters.

The story and the dialogues... 'You are too busy being selfless' - against a lady who has chosen a rich stinker, and who is reading a scene or what before that in a beach chair next to the luxury swimming pool ??

It cannot be much cheaper, more content-less, more fake. If a genre could be put on it, it would be 'drama', because it's dramatically bad.

The 1* is for the actors; they will probably do what is asked of them. But I also argue that the makers of this film should be the first to send to Mars, and to ensure that their spaceship crashes there '100% perte total'.

You can say all kinds of things about it, but I really like the Zahn / Aniston combination.

Also a lot of nice supporting roles (Martindale, Ward, Liao, Tzi Ma, Boone Junior), of which I find Harrelson's character slightly annoying, but that must also be the intention.

The first half of the film is the best, but the rest has a lot to offer as well.

The Vietnam War motif is also unusual and worth mentioning.

It's not always super funny, let alone believable, but a nice feel-good movie that I regularly watch again.

Therefore an eight.
