Yatsuhaka-mura plot
Four hundred years ago, the inhabitants of Yatsuhaka helped eight samurai rebels hide. In the end, they killed the eight, fearing reprisals from the Shogunate. Just before he dies, one of the samurai casts a curse on the inhabitants of the village. Immediately strange things happen in the village and the eight samurai are honorably buried in eight tombs to tame the curse. Four hundred years later, the village chief and head of the Tajimi family goes insane and kills many of his fellow villagers. When again 25 years later his oldest son is poisoned, the family hires detective Kindaichi Yousuke to investigate the case. Everyone in the village thinks the Samurai curse is active again.
