Picpus plot
There has been a murder at number 162 on Rue de Picpus. More follow shortly after, the most notable of which is the murder of Mascouvin, a singer, but which seems to have nothing to do with the first murder. Commissioner Maigret begins an investigation and meets the old ship's doctor Le Cloaguen who has received the not inconsiderable gift of two thousand francs from a wealthy American, Sheila Dumont, who would be very grateful to him.
