John Green is a nice guy, really, but his books are nothing or are badly filmed, that is of course also possible. A lot of far-fetched characters and entanglements, very boring middle parts, weak coming of age talk and an anticlimactic ending, the unsuspecting viewer wonders 1. why Green is concerned with this kind of meaninglessness and 2. why it apparently still catches on with middle-aged students (?). Tasteless snack.

(annoyingly also that version of On A Good Day at the end, I wanted to hear Joanna Newsom!)

A film that is undergoing quite a development. It starts out as a somewhat dry high school comedy. After some innocent teenage jokes, it briefly ends up in the mystery area when one of the two protagonists disappears. That is then continued with a somewhat bland quest that culminates in a very nice road movie. Only then did I find the film really interesting, so I ended up with 3*. The run-up could easily have been shorter and better.

SOME PEOPLE WILL BE CURIOUS ABOUT THIS BECAUSE OF THE PRESENCE OF CARA DELEVINGNE. HOWEVER, they WILL come out cheated. MOST OF THE TIME she's missing and you're watching unfamiliar teens hanging around. CARA HAS ONLY A LIMITED NUMBER OF SCENES, IN WHICH SHE PLAYS A GIRL WITH A WILD ATTITUDE ABOUT USING CAPITAL LETTERS.
