Ghosted plot

The unsolved murder of her young Taiwanese lover leaves Hamburg artist Sophie Schmitt completely disoriented. She dedicates a video installation to her, which she shows in Taipei. During the opening, she is approached by a mysterious journalist, Mei-li, who impressed her at first sight. Mei-li takes her to the famous night market and tries to seduce her here. But Sophie, still grieving the loss of her beloved Ai-ling, rejects her and then returns to Hamburg. Soon Mei-li shows up on her doorstep unannounced and eventually Sophie falls for her. But then Sophie finds out that her newfound love is secretly dealing with Ai-ling's death and that no Mei-li works for the Taiwanese newspaper at all and that no one under this name has ever entered Germany. Who is this mysterious woman?
