Diplomacy plot
An informal conference of influential diplomats takes place in Deauville. The conference will be attended by Julian Weymouth and his brother Sir Henry Weymouth of the British Diplomatic Service, the young Russian royalist Count Orloff, the Marchioness of Zares and her daughter Dora and Countess Zicka. Countess Zicka sells political secrets to Baron Ballin. He is reportedly an agent of the Bolshevik government. Count Orloff, believing that Dora may have been responsible for his arrest in Russia, rushes to warn his friends Julian and Sir Henry. However, he does not know that Julian and Dora are newly married.
