When the lawyer Frank Hobart is murdered there are two suspects; the beautiful nightclub singer Ilona Vanve, and the criminal Stan, who was hired by mobster boss Chad Bayliss to kill Hobart. Attracted to Ilona Vanve, Inspector Roy Hargis tries to protect her, despite mounting accusations and pressure from his assistant, Sergeant Lackey. Hargis thinks he's won the case when the dance girl Sandra Lamoreaux tries to blackmail him with information that she witnessed Stan's murder.
