Ridi Pagliaccio! plot

Anna Alessandri is a young woman who has just been released from prison. Pietro Rinaldi is a clown and trapeze worker in a circus. One day he sees Anna jumping into the river to kill herself. He saves her life and she moves in with him. Gradually she becomes more and more involved in the circus life. Pietro teaches her trapeze work so that she can join him and his two colleagues in their show. One day someone from the world of great entertainment makes Pietro, Anna and the two colleagues a lucrative offer which they accept. From now on they will perform in well-known theaters and arenas all over the world. Pietro and the woman get married, become rich and successful, but lack the camaraderie of the circus, where everyone interacts like one big family.
