Passing Strange plot

A black young man, known only as The Youth, is sent to a church choir by his mother in the early 1960s. The Church turns out not to be for him, but through the pastor's son he is inspired by the arts, especially from Europe, with its freedoms. He travels to Amsterdam and Berlin, cultures that are much less color-fixed, and visits art films, cafes and meets the local population.
