Mammy plot

Mammy, based on Irving Berlin's musical 'Mr. Bones' (with the famous song 'Yes, we have no bananas') is the first film in cinema history to contain Technicolor clips. Al Jolson (of The Jazz Singer) plays drunken variety star Al. When he jokingly points the gun at Westy, the show's leader, he doesn't know the gun is loaded. Al shoots Westy and is arrested. He runs to his mother for advice.
