"HEARTS ARE DANCING WITH JOY!"

When Donald Elwood (Fred Astaire) meets his former USO partner Kitty McNeil (Betty Hutton) some time after the war, she turns out to be a wealthy widow with a small child. Kitty tries to break free from the yoke of her mother-in-law, who wants her to behave and live according to the standards and customs of her late husband.
