Finding the Funk plot
A journey through the past, present and future of funk music. A music movement from America. Funk is a rhythmic style of music that relies heavily on the staccato interplay between percussion, bass lines, rhythm guitars and wind instruments. In the 1960s, funk was developed primarily by James Brown and his band, and later by The Meters. Artists of the first hour included Bootsy Collins, George Clinton, Maceo Parker, Sly & the Family Stone and the Commodores. You could describe funk as a bridge between the soul of the 60s and the hip-hop of the 80s.
