American Zombie plot

"We're here. We're dead. Get used to it!"

Filmmakers Grace Lee and John Solomon are collaborating on a documentary about zombies in Los Angeles and the difficulties they struggle with to become accepted. Despite their different working styles, they manage to create a penetrating portrait of four fascinating subjects. Ivan is a shop assistant who wants to publish his own magazine. Lisa tries to regain her lost memories. Hopeless romantic Lisa tries to reconcile with her true nature and Joel is a political activist who wants to improve the rights of zombies. Grace mainly tries to get to know the zombies better, but John stubbornly searches for their dark side. He gets permission to film at Live Dead, a three-day festival where only zombies are allowed. What happens there casts doubt on all their certainties, and the future of the human race.
