Trash Fire plot
"Hell hath no fury."
Owen is a pseudo-nihilistic yuppie completely screwed up by a horrific tragedy in his youth. He has become estranged from his only remaining family, convinced that he is responsible for the death of his parents in a fire that also severely disfigured his sister. Owen takes his anger and guilt out on his caring and understanding girlfriend Isabel, who can barely cope with his chronic hostility. Even with intensive couples therapy, they make little progress, but Owen's attacks and bulimia make her hesitant to leave him. When Isabel unexpectedly becomes pregnant, Owen is forced to confront the past he's been running from all his adult life.
