YEP!!

Once again, it's a horror film that completely misses the mark.

A tedious film with even worse acting.....and there is hardly any horror to speak of.

Clearly a zero-budget film.....and you can see and hear it too.

So just skip it.

Quite a decent low-budget film, which was apparently marketed somewhat as a British Paranormal Activity. In this film, as the title somewhat suggests, houseguest David O'Reilly sees all sorts of ghosts/demons or whatever they may be, in contrast to the couple he is temporarily staying with. As the low score suggests, not everyone can appreciate this, and in some aspects I can somewhat understand why – as I said, it is low-budget, and that manifests clearly in the filming style (lots of handheld and shaky), the dark visuals, and the fact that the film relies heavily on suggestion and doesn't explain very much. Whereby it remains to be seen to what extent the demons are real, or whether David is really going crazy and all the misery originated in his brain. For me, it worked, partly because the actors came across as quite natural and real, although it is true that their actions were not always entirely logical. Particularly on the part of the host and hostess. But even so, I found it to be an enjoyable piece of film in terms of atmosphere and suggestion, which fortunately also keeps its length short.

Directing duo Andrew Cull and Steve Isles deliver an experimental horror film that, unfortunately, loses most of its power after just fifteen minutes. The Possession of David O'Reilly thus forms a chaotic hodgepodge of half-developed ideas, completely confusing cinematography, and a story that never really takes off. The filmmakers' seemingly deliberate choice to reveal few answers turns out to be particularly tiresome, with an endless repetition of people screaming and banging against doors and walls. Often, it isn't even clear exactly what is going on, but instead of creating mystery, it causes irritation and distraction. Half a point for the enthusiastic cast members; otherwise, this is rubbish.
