The Moth Diaries plot
"Every girl has her secrets."
At a girls' boarding school, a sixteen-year-old girl records her innermost thoughts in a diary. The subject of her growing obsession is her roommate, Lucy Blake, and Lucy's friendship with their new and disturbing classmate. Ernessa is a mysterious girl with fluctuating moods, who looks very pale and has piercing eyes. She is shrouded in a haze of dark rumours, suspicions and secrets, as well as a series of impending disasters. As school anxiety mounts and Lucy is no longer Lucy, fantasy and reality mingle in a living nightmare that evokes the tensions, lusts, and fears of puberty. And central to the diary is the question that haunts anyone who reads the book: Is Ernessa really a vampire? Or is the narrator misled by the feverish world of her own imagination?
