After the death of her father [Jonathan Nyati], Anna [Riann Steele] moves in with her ailing grandmother Lucy [Jane Lowe] to help care for Karen [Sophie Thompson]. Anna already suffered from nightmares here as a child and that appears not to have changed. When Lucy starts babbling about something she's not supposed to talk about, Anna realizes that a dark family secret is responsible for the sinister atmosphere and eerie nighttime sounds. Hooper has a good look at Lon Chaney in The Phantom Of The Opera(1925), but this is a failed attempt to combine horror and family drama. Ben Hecking's camera work is good, but it doesn't want to be scary

The intriguingly designed poster unfortunately does not reflect the quality of The Creeping, which comes across as considerably tamer and less original. Director Jamie Hooper keeps a certain amount of mystery in the air for a while and the first half follows the familiar haunted house clichés in a solid and traditional way, which fortunately come across as quite captivating. Eventually, however, the screenwriters have to move on and the scale is slowly expanded, so that the final phase begins to make way for some grander effects. However, these come across as particularly unconvincing and this horror film does not really want to become exciting or atmospheric, which leaves the viewer with an unsatisfactory and empty feeling.

Hauntingly beautiful location, quiet little family home in the countryside. Spooky almost out the gate, yet filled with love and memories. It's sufficiently creepy, but it feels like an episode of "Goosebumps" with less intrigue.

The family secrets and shame are quite distressing, the atmosphere finally starting to make sense. Such a vile and hateful presence is tormenting our ladies, and deserving of no pity and forgiveness should not even be considered.

A very 60s and 70s way of British Story telling, from a native Californian viewpoint. I enjoyed it and I hope you give the film a watch.
