The Chair plot
After Reese brings home an antique chair, all sorts of horrible things happen. His relationship with his girlfriend also suffers. Reese begins to wonder if the chair is possessed by an evil spirit, or if the darkness is in his own mind.

Obsession is set to be one of the horror films of the year and end up on many end-of-year lists. So, by way of a preview, I wanted to see what kind of style Barker has in store, some elements of which will certainly be found in his feature film that I will be watching very soon.
Unfortunately: not my cup of tea. It plays with amnesia, where a man has a week-long blackout. Is Reese schizophrenic? Did he murder someone during his blackout? What is real? What is imagined? The chair acts merely as a catalyst in this short, an object that disconnects the characters from reality. For me, it is too vague to be good. I hope for better for Obsession.
