"This Halloween no one can stop the harvest..."

Three years after the horrific massacre, Michelle, the sole survivor, is undergoing training. However, she wonders what exactly happened in the infamous barn and thinks it was a ritualistic attack. As of this year, Halloween can again be celebrated in Michelle's hometown. The girls from the local sorority put Michelle and her friend Heather in charge of the haunted house. Some shady characters from Michelle's past decide to drop by.

Director Justin M. Seaman's sequel doesn't reinvent the wagon wheel within its genre, but actually improves upon every aspect of the first film. The Barn II is a cohesive whole that embraces practical effects and all the horror films of the 80s. An intelligent story isn't necessary for that, but an idea and a filmmaker with a genuine passion for his craft are. After a half-hour introduction, the floodgates are opened, and the film is little more than a bloody compilation of teenagers being impaled on Hein's scythe one after the other. The acting isn't the best, but it all looks so atmospheric, purposeful, and focused that this rarely poses a problem. The new additions to the slasher team aren't particularly impressive, but otherwise, this film is actually better than its predecessor in every respect.
