Very strong and exciting horror film that sucked me to the edge of the seat, especially the last half of the rental. The build-up of tension is great and the visuals are amazingly beautiful. The soundtrack also made an extra contribution to this very atmospheric horror film from Spanish cuisine. The Spaniards are masters of the horror genre in that regard. To appreciate this film one should not stare blindly at the credibility of the story, but one should completely surrender to your feelings. Leave everyday reality for what it is. Pretend the story is a scary dream. I often have the idea that many movie buffs can't separate themselves from reality when watching a horror film, which results in a low rating and, as a result, a far too low average for this - let me say it again - excellent horror film.

This really is one of those movies where the outcome is pretty much fixed in advance, so it's more about how we get there in the end, and there are more minuses than pluses to it.
In any case, it is visually beautiful. The house and the location provide beautiful atmospheric pictures. It was also good in terms of scare moments. No empty jumpscares, everything counted. Noise was also a major factor, with the house creaking on all sides.
But that's where it stopped for me. The movie had too slow a pace and too many scenes that didn't go anywhere like the one where the lead actress tries to flee the house and the island only to end up in exactly the same place. I've seen that genre cliche too many times and it was way too flashy.
The script was also too predictable to a certain extent, and having the male lead reveal everything himself was also not good for the tension. You can see in advance how it will fare with the characters, and the way in which it was quickly clear.
I didn't find the characters interesting either. I even found the woman quite irritating. The screaming was somewhat understandable, but now and then all she did was swear. The script tries to make her a little more likeable but that didn't really help because she wasn't a very nice person either. And her brother was absent so often that he was more of an occasional plot element in a story that didn't really grab me.
In fact, I just found the film boring and uninteresting. the pretty pictures were just enough to keep my attention. All in all, a mediocre ghost movie.

After his 2 short films, a somewhat more conventional film by Cerda. But this one has also been put down very carefully. Very atmospheric and eerie. Better than most haunted house movies. Craftsmanship.
