Something Evil plot
A young couple moves into an old mansion in Pennsylvania. The duo is ignorant of an entity that resides in the house. It is not long before the ghost tries to take possession of the lady of the house. Fortunately, neighbor Harry Lincoln knows more about it.

Weak and especially annoying script with a lot of female screaming and baby crying.
Worth watching only for good direction and good camerawork.

Really hungover.
Duel was one of Spielberg's best films, but with a true horror film, he completely misses the mark. This film never manages to rise above its TV roots; despite the short running time, it is terrible from start to finish.
Aside from some unusual camera angles (but nothing too remarkable), the visuals are truly dismal. Spielberg completely fails to build any atmosphere; there is nothing scary, it all just looks very cheap and bland. Those are factors that don't have much to do with budget, although time pressure might play a part as well.
The acting is terrible to watch, the horror is completely flat, and there is absolutely nothing to enjoy in terms of story. So, a cheap and meager exercise, which is a shame because based on Duel, I had expected a bit more from it.

Based on Duel, I had expected quite a bit more from this; certainly in terms of building tension and creating a scary atmosphere, this film fails miserably.
A mediocre, somewhat entertaining story that merely meanders along but never really manages to build to a dramatic finale.
