Solstice plot

Megan gets her diploma, but doesn't have much time to celebrate. Not much later, her sister Sophie commits suicide at a Christmas party after an argument between the two. Megan goes to a swamp for the weekend with her friends, before they all go to different colleges. At first she doesn't want to go, afraid of memories of her sister, but she allows herself to be persuaded. The trip starts off nicely and Megan falls in love with Christian. But then Megan begins to feel her sister's ghost in her presence. When inexplicable things happen, she is convinced of this. But then they also get messages from other ghosts, changing their lives forever.

Story is a bit cliche, and there are also few surprises. Sometimes quite scary, the scares come out pretty good.

Seyfried is on the poster, but has only a very small role - this film is still somewhat predated for its recently acquired star status. So you really don't have to look for that.

A fairly standard drama, with the necessary scares. The scares aren't that bad yet and ensure that it is sometimes a bit exciting.

The story itself has a fairly predictable course and it's not that hard to figure out exactly how everything works. The acting could pass for a movie like this one. The bar isn't really high, but if teens like this aren't annoying, they're doing a lot of good.

Other than that, it is entertaining and also quite atmospheric. There are also very few highs, but fortunately not really lows either. All in all, it's pretty reasonable.

Easy.

A very simple horror piece. Some youth, a house in the swamp and a kind of haunting that apparently has to do with the death of the main character's twin sister. Film has an atmosphere that seems to be an offshoot of the whole Scream/IKWYDLS hype and I think it will appeal to the same group.

Myrick is the least of the Blair Witch directors, so it doesn't surprise me that he hasn't made any films since '08. Not that this movie is that bad now, but it feels a bit dusty and that wouldn't have been much better at release. Just then the competition was fierce in the horror world, then a film like this is not exactly a calling card.

There are not many scary moments, drama and horror go hand in hand, the twist at the end is one that won't turn too many heads. It's all been done 100 times (better) but this attempt as a filler is still quite deserving. Just don't expect too much from it.
