Nothing wrong with that, nice creepy atmosphere. Edward Furlong does well as nice teenager Jeff who misses his late mother, his nemesis Clyde (Jared Rushton) is nice and mean, it's like Draco Malfoy. Mary Lambert certainly knows how to convey the right dark Stephen King feeling, but for me she remains the director of beautiful video clips she made for Madonna in the eighties: Borderline, Like A Virgin, Material Girl, La Isla Bonita and it did not go unnoticed Like A Prayer. Somewhere at the end of the film, by the way, there is a reference to her work with the pop star, when Furlong rises from a rocking chair in exactly the same way as Madonna in La Isla Bonita.

Just like the first film a mediocre affair. Zombies always find their way home beautifully. The idea behind it, turning the trauma of a death into the obsession to bring that person back to life, doesn't really work here as it should. I also thought this was on the same level as the first film (2.5*). Clancy Brown is on a roll here and the horror is quite entertaining, but I had to put up with that.

Mme.

Lambert has meanwhile lost almost all her directing talents, but in the 90s she still made quite decent films. I've never found them great, but give me a Pet Sematary II about a movie like The Attic. There is a world of difference between that film and this one, and I'm not just talking about the year.

Furthermore, it escapes me a bit why this film has gone down so much compared to the first part. I just have to say that this turned out to be a completely different movie. The first film is a bit more serious and especially more ominous, this part focuses more on the light humor and weird acting performances. Certainly a Clancy Brown actually makes it clear that this sequel wanted to go in a different direction.

The film is reasonably within expectations. Very typical elements that were often repeated in the 80s return here cheerfully. The bicycles, bullies and children in the lead and so on. It is no longer innovative, but the acting is nice and the film is rarely boring. However, it lacks a big punch of both gore and tension, so that the film can't really excel in anything other than the point of view that it looks nice.

For a rainy afternoon without this, this film is ideal material to easily pass your time, but it must be said that you should probably see it as a bit of a separate film rather than a sequel to the classic. The universe may be the same, but the horror itself is completely different. Entertaining, but not very memorable.
