Pretty long-winded, and I thought it was getting a bit unbelievable.

I wouldn't call it a real horror, I was waiting for a climax of blood, but it never came, and the cast kept brooding.

I read a comparison here with "the descent" a few times, but I really couldn't make out that comparison.

The Descent is still high on my best movie list.

Decent movie, not quite my taste. Not very surprising and during the film there is not enough exciting build up to really sit on the edge of my seat. I have no complaints about the actors, they were above the level of this low budget film.

Potency.

Open Grave was apparently on some of my watch lists, so I quickly had an excuse to check out the film. I once put these kinds of films on a list with an unclear mindset, because I can't imagine what really drew me to this film. Oh well, it wasn't a bad movie.

With well-known actors and a beginning that immediately throws you into the story, director López-Gallego has good control and can grab your attention flawlessly. This film starts quite grim and added value from the direction is quickly noticeable. Once the story has found its foundation, it just gets a little less.

It is certainly mysterious and unpredictable and the design is sometimes clever, but Open Grave offers just a little too little added value once the story unravels. It is interestingly explained, but with all the glitter and toys in the world you still can't hide the fact that the story has a rather empty turn. Far-fetched will be fine, it just lacks some spark.

Acting is not brilliant with such a huge cast unfortunately. Copley still has its charm, but in the other members I was a bit disappointed. Richards and Kretschmann have played much better roles and seem to be completely lost in this film. In addition, the tension is only slowly increased and there is no real threat.

The story sends in all directions, in the end just a bit too much because not everything seems to get an answer here. A nice film that has no trouble keeping you fascinated thanks to an interesting storytelling. I only hoped for something more substantive intelligence, which really gets you mindblown. The ending is still nice, but otherwise the film leaves potential untapped.
