Modern Love plot

"Happy happy, joy, joy, until someone gets hurt...."

John, his wife Emily and their son Edward leave the city because John has inherited a cottage in the countryside. They find themselves in the strange, rural environment where John originally comes from. John's behavior becomes more and more strange as he encounters more of the unusual country folk, some of whom he knows from a distant past. Slowly, John's life before he moved to the city is revealed.
