La Stanza Accanto plot

Martin Yakobowsky is a brilliant lawyer whose family hails from Poland. He is given the legal task of solving a controversial case in an agricultural town in the heart of Iowa, where he was born. At first he doesn't feel like it, mainly because he no longer has any contact with the people from the area, but in the end he decides to return to his hometown. When he arrives, he finds that there is a fierce quarrel between a powerful congressman and the poor Polish workers. However, there is much more going on. Apparently there have been terrible murders in the past, for which an innocent person was eventually convicted. The moment he puts pieces of the puzzle together, he begins to feel more and more threatened. Gradually, he loses sight of his professional duties and falls prey to a form of madness that leads to the discovery of a horrifying truth.
