Kaidan Bancho Sara Yashiki plot

Mr. Harima has been hanging out with a bunch of bad guys. After a fight with rivals in a forbidden area, another lord is forced to commit harakiri. Harima is placed under house arrest, but manages to get out of the situation by marrying the daughter of a wealthy magistrate. However, Harima is already in love with the maid Kiku, to whom he has already promised his wedding vows. When Kiku accidentally breaks some plates from Harima's wedding gift to his new father-in-law, Harima kills her and the body falls into a well.
