Nice to get such a sequel going by using the first as a film, basing a story on it and also making a lot of noise. Less is that it comes with a bunch of really annoying film students and that it starts to feel more and more like one big joke that plays with the complications that some horror sequels sometimes have to contend with.

For someone as obsessed with Grave Encounters as Alex, he certainly didn't learn much from it. It also gets in the way of the ghost party quite a bit. The build-up of the previous one is gone, Poliquin just cuts in when the stuff is finally on location. There is sometimes something nice in between, but it does not get blood-curdling by a long shot.

All a bit on the bland side. Just like the feint is, although it can still be appreciated in itself. That doesn't exactly apply to Preston's return. Yes, insane all the way through, but not in an appealing way. Rather the opposite. It is still hectic, especially because of the found footage approach with all kinds of different cameras, but that's it.

Fewer.

I thought part 1 was quite an exciting film at the time, but this part leaves little of that tension. This is mainly a comedy film that briefly touches on the horror, but otherwise mainly sinks into a tame thriller and an almost science fiction-like finale.

I don't really remember much about part 1, except that it contained quite a few exciting moments. I don't remember whether that part had a long introduction, for example, but this part is very colorful in terms of introductions. At least 40 minutes have passed before the first threats pass by.

When those threats come, they are often very cool, but also limited. It briefly seems to fall into a repetition of part 1, but in the end it gets its own twist. It's just that that twist just isn't that special or fun that I would have rather just seen a rerun.

The acting is also fairly weak, the better work actually comes from some crew members that we also saw walking around in part 1. Furthermore, it is all a bit weak, but you run that risk if you replace almost your entire adult cast with teenagers. They are often just a little less experienced.

Visually further in the lines of part 1. Slightly bigger and more spectacular, but not necessarily better. The finale with the hole in the wall wasn't necessary from me. Furthermore, it just lacks tension, part 1 contained enough of it but there is not much left of it here. A few scares and pursuits, but not enough to keep the viewer in suspense. That did the previous part better, which left the viewer in suspense for a longer period of time.

Sadly quite a disappointment. Not exciting or scary enough and with a boring and much too long introduction. Nice that it occasionally fools the first part, but it's only small details that make the film better. Moderate follow-up. I wonder if part 3 will ever come.

Usually the original is better than the sequel, but I found this one slightly better than the first
