"Never underestimate a mother's intuition."
Lucy is a wealthy woman with a great desire to have children, but has trouble conceiving. So she is considering starting IVF treatment. With her husband's resources and connections, an appointment is arranged with the most coveted fertility doctor in New York, Dr. hindle. However, when Lucy finally becomes pregnant, she begins to feel something sinister about the whole process.

Quite impressed by this film, in several respects. I am somewhat less impressed by Doctor Brosnan. As for Doctor Hindle's story, it could very well be based on true events... from the Netherlands; it was in the news quite recently. OK, Hindle went just a little further and one of his patients went a whole lot further. The film builds up quite slowly. You notice from the beginning that something isn't right, but that only becomes clear at a later stage. The mystery element is also well executed. There were a few beautiful scenes, especially when Lucy walks after one of the assistants; beautiful camerawork. Towards the end, the horror element came to the fore a bit. A peculiar film, and I thought Lucy was the best in her role.

A mediocre film in which a woman wanting to get pregnant undergoes treatment with a fertility doctor. A bit too tame for a horror film, and too little to laugh at for a horror-comedy (although Pierce Brosnan is quite entertaining in the role of the extremely calm doctor). Not bad, but a bit too monotonous for 3.0 stars.

A well-acted but rather soulless thriller with a few sparse moments of horror. Ilana Glazer and Pierce Brosnan, in particular, play compelling characters who, unfortunately, repeatedly struggle with the slow-moving story. Director John Lee generally cares too little about any form of atmosphere, meaning tension never gets a chance to build. False Positive also scores few points on the bloodshed or psychological terror front, but thanks to a degree of unpredictability and a reasonable build-up, it doesn't fall completely below par. As is often the case with this type of film, the events in the finale go quite off the rails.
