Finally had a look too. I only know the second part which is certainly not brilliant, but quite entertaining. Now this one seems to be slightly better, but I don't agree with that.

He isn't any worse. There is also quite a bit of atmosphere here. It all starts nicely with an 80s soundtrack, colorful hairstyles and popiejopie blouses. The build-up is promising, nice that it all takes place in a cinema. The time when the girl was so ostentatiously scared of a terrifying fart on the big screen to get as close as possible to her dude and hold a hand. Nothing used to that lad. And then those wooden, rickety chairs. You could stop a horde of demons with it. Oh wait.

One of the examples that heralds a lesser second part of the film. The demons are released and leave a trail of destruction. So a lot of cool make-up and filth. But that's fun for a while, and without a good story you're really not looking at anything. And in a movie like this, I don't expect a story that will win prizes, but at least give it a try. Suddenly the trivial scenes pile up, although the dirt bike with katana was still cool. The mediocre acting, trying to ignore the dub, eventually started to disappoint me a bit. Especially the screaming really pissed me off (pun intended).

Demons therefore has some of the same negatives as its sequel. Good atmosphere, pleasant gore. The rest is below average so it is not really recommended. It's fun for once in a while.

Nice!

The survival story is nowhere really very high, but very nicely done. Some strange cuts in the film in which we follow a bunch of car thieves out of nowhere, by the way. Takes you out of the movie for a while. They don't really have a very big function. The film in the film is very nicely done and also looks nice.

Of course, this isn't about a great story. It's all about the gore here. And there is quite a lot of filth to be found in Dèmoni. The practical effects still look decent today. There is something that CGI never quite manages to convey. In terms of gore and effects, there's plenty to enjoy.

Also very attractively shot. Lots of smoke and light effects shot through smoke, good use of color and some nice shots. Furthermore, the soundtrack stands out with some songs by big names such as Mötley Crüe and Scorpions. Simonetti's score is also beautiful. Dèmoni is a bit outdated because of that soundtrack, score and also some other elements that are typically 80's.

Entertaining movie.

Lots of gore in a little startling horror. A simplistic story that progresses predictably and that only seems to have been created as an excuse to throw special effects.

The film is flat and unintrigued. The story has little ominous basis and does not build up a thrilling mystery. Situations simply arise. With only sfx as the exciting factor, the curious mind is certainly not catered for. With gore as the only source of tension, it's all very much the same. The fun quickly wears off after the umpteenth confrontation with a biting demon and after the umpteenth shocking splatter action.

The make-up department has worked hard. The make-up artist is certainly not indifferent. The gore is a lot and looks decent. The design is okay. Sophisticated use of color and suggestive sound work effectively. As long as it lasts, because it is true that you become more and more critical due to the relentless stream of bloody effects. As the film progresses, the verdict on the quality and effectiveness of the gore becomes less and less mild.

The soundtrack is very ok. Very nice Heavy Metal plus a nice instrumental piece by Claudio Simonetti (of Goblin). Sometimes, however, the music is a bit too emphatic, so that the fierce and hectic images are, as it were, even more overblown and eyes and ears are busy processing many stimuli. Extra tension and atmosphere is not generated by the music in this way.

The acting isn't the best. That is not a surprising finding, because that is rarely of a high level in Giallo country.

So is the movie. I expected more from Lamberto Bava.
