"Some cases should never be opened."
Emily Jenkins is a social worker for troubled families. She has seen all kinds of misery, but her meeting with 10-year-old Lilith is very special. The girl is mistreated by her parents and Emily is afraid they will kill her. Emily tries everything to get the girl out of the house while taking her in herself, but over time Emily discovers that things may be a little more complicated.

This was another good movie. The movie reminded me a little bit of Orphan, although Orphan is a lot better, Case 39 is certainly not bad either.
What I really liked about the movie was the girl. A sweet view, but perhaps not so sweet. She was cast very well. The rest of the story was interesting, although it is not all that surprising, but it still looks away quickly.
I thought the film was worth watching and it was already a successful movie night.

The first time I saw this in the cinema as part of a Halloween special. I don't remember exactly which ones the other movies were, but I thought this one was the best (think Paranomal Activity was one of them). Jodelle Ferland is truly gorgeous as that demonic child who can come across as oh-so-cute. And yes, I also chose a different ending. Luckily I have the DVD with the alternative endings for that. The extras on the DVD are also well worth checking out. I thought the scene with the hornets was impressive.
